Adult Whitefly Destroyers are tiny shiny black beetles about 1⁄16 inch long, but newly emerged ones look pale-brown to almost white before turning black with a brown head. Both adults and larvae hunt all stages of whitefly, especially eggs and nymphs, piercing them and sucking out their contents. Females live roughly two months and lay three to four eggs each day, while males live about one and a half months; development from egg to adult takes about three weeks at 80 to 85 °F.

How this page works

This is one bug's fact sheet. The colored box at the top says whether it is dangerous. Sections below cover how to recognize it, whether it is a pest, and how to deal with it. The US map shows which states have records; tap a state to see other bugs there.

Every fact on Bug FAQ comes from a named source (university extension sites, government agencies, GBIF, iNaturalist, Wikipedia). The source is linked next to each section. If we have no source for something, we leave it out.
