Bug FAQ does not ask you to sign up and does not collect your name or email unless you email us.

What our web host logs

Like most websites, our host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time). We use them to keep the site running and to count visits.

Advertising

We may show ads from third-party networks such as Google AdSense. These companies may use cookies or similar technology to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

Affiliate links

Some pages link to products on Amazon and other stores. If you buy through these links we may earn a commission. The store may set cookies to track the referral. See our affiliate disclosure.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. California and other state residents can ask what data we hold about them by emailing hello@bugfaq.com; for most visitors the answer is server logs only.

How this page works

This is one of the site's policy pages.

Every fact on Bug FAQ comes from a named source (university extension sites, government agencies, GBIF, iNaturalist, Wikipedia). The source is linked next to each section. If we have no source for something, we leave it out.
